Celebrating Animation by Women, 25th – 29th Sept 2018

SCREENING – Tuesday 25th September, 6.30 pm: Women’s Animation from Near and Far: Hyde Park Picture House £5.5 – £7.80

Part of ‘Anim18: A Celebration of British Animation’ and of Scalarama

* This 90-minute programme, presented by Leeds Animation Workshop, will include favourites from this women’s collective, who for 40 years have been making animated films in Leeds, and sending them round the world.

* In addition they will screen an exciting selection of women’s work, from the UK and much further afield – including short films by indigenous artists, and young animators, never before seen in this country.

Featured are powerful and poetic works about First Nation heritage by Inuit and Siberian artists, alongside enthralling films from the new generation of Czech animators – young women launching their own fresh style within a great tradition of individuality and humour.

SCREENING – on Thursday 27th Sept at 6:30 pm: 42 New Briggate: (in association with Pavilion): “Women Animators On The Edge”

A programme of short films by women artists outside the mainstream, covering several decades. Films from the US, Europe, London and Leeds, with several UK and Yorkshire premieres.

With Speaker: Louise Shelley – and discussion.
