Welcome to Women’s Film and Television History Network U.K. and Ireland
We are a group of researchers, teachers, archivists, collections managers, students, professionals, and enthusiasts engaged in exploring the contributions women have made to the emergence and development of film and television.
As a means of encouraging, supporting and disseminating research into women’s participation in screen media, the WFTHN holds a biennial conference, Doing Women’s Film and Television History (DWFTH).
Our most recent conference was DWFTH5, “Histories of Women in Film and Television: Then and Now.” This was an online conference hosted by Maynooth University, Ireland, 10-11 July 2021.
DWFTH 5 has now taken place. However, you can still watch presentations by registering for the conference. This is free and gives you access to all full presentation videos. Panel recordings will be made available soon. To register and watch full videos, click here.
Follow the official conference Twitter account for updates: @DWFTH5.
As part of this year’s events, we also curated a special edition of Alphaville journal. Click the image above to find out more!
